Election Thoughts: Not Much Has Changed
There continue to be some close poll numbers, but really not much has changed since Paul Ryan was added to the ticket. We are about 2 months away from the election and if nothing changes, it will end up another Obama landslide.
I saw that there is an Obama "documentary" (2016: Obama's America) that I suppose talks about Obama being anti-American. I hadn't even heard of the movie but there was a link on Yahoo about it. The movie opened up last month and has made $9.2 million since it opened. If you look at the comments at the bottom of the page on Yahoo, it is clear how much hate is out there. No big deal - a bunch of people hate Obama. The thing that gets me is how stupid some of the haters are.
They talk about the film as if it is really taking off. With a box office of $9.2 million, it is next to nothing. More people saw the story about it on Yahoo than actually saw the movie. I am sure it is just a slick hit job funded by rich elites. No one wants to see it anyway.
By comparision, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" made $37 million earlier this summer. That movie quickly disappeared. If you are interested in documentaries, Farenheit 9/11 made $119 million in its box office run. That puts this film into some perspective.

The 2016 documentary has done amazingly well. It's VERY rare that a documentary opens in the top 10 and 2016 didn't have major studio backing, unlike Moore's "documentary", and opened on a small number of screens. It had grossed about $20M as of yesterday.
I've read D'Souza's first book, "Roots of Obama's Rage and I'm midway through the second one, "Obama's America". Both books, which form a basis for the movie, present a strong factual case for D'Souza's positions. I wouldn't consider either of the books "hateful". You should really either see the movie or read one of the books before commenting on the film and characterizing D'Souza as a "hater". D'Souza graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth, so he's not "stupid". You say that "No one wants to see it anyway" . It would be more accurate to say that "The DNC doesn't want anyone to see it."

You spent $10 to see this film? I go to the theater to be entertained. I go to 2-3 movies a year with my family - I don't want to waste my time and money on D'Souza's propaganda.
I am very familiar with his work and find it distasteful and very poorly sourced. The End of Racism was a joke. The guy is just like Ann Coulter and as long as folks are willing to buy his snake oil he is happy to produce it.
I haven't seen the film yet. I'm a cheapskate and I usally wait for a film to come out on Netflix before I see it. I might make an exception for this one though.
I haven't read the End of Racism yet, but I think I will. What did you find distasteful about the book? Also, have you read the two books I've mentioned?
